Bethan Ash is a professional quilt maker and teacher with a background in Fashion design. She has exhibited widely and her work has been bought by museums in the UK and USA, including the Museum of Arts and Design in New York. She is a member of the prestigious International Quilt Art Group.
Taffiti Graffiti
Statement: This is the first in a series of six works inspired by my love of Graffiti as an art form and my interest in the decline and revival of the Welsh language. It is a little known fact that Welsh been spoken for longer than any other language in Europe.
Technique: Improvisational cut and fused wall quilt using digitally printed heat transfer wording. Welsh wording, representing the colours used in the quilt i.e., coch = red, glas = blue , etc. Machine stitched and quilted.
Materials: 100% Cotton upper, filling and backing
Display requirements: 1 wall space required - basic hanging from a batten.
