At over three decades old, this piece embodies both timeless Italian craftsmanship and a design vocabulary that feels remarkably contemporary today.

Poltrona Frau is celebrated as one of Italy’s top luxury furniture houses—often compared with Minotti, Flexform, and B&B Italia—and is prized by collectors for its investment-level durability and elegance. The brand’s philosophy emphasizes leather that develops a natural patina and graceful wrinkles with age, enhancing its richness over time.

This chair showcases Poltrona Frau’s taupe-brown leather, a sophisticated grey-toned brown (taupe) that remains supple and lustrous. The gently rounded armrests sweep seamlessly into the backrest, creating an enveloping silhouette that balances sculptural presence with everyday comfort. The detachable throw-over cushions for the arms and back, anchored by discreet zippers, add both softness and an understated sense of luxury.

Branding is clear and authentic: a metal Poltrona Frau plaque is affixed to the underside of the chair (see photos 7 8), all three cushions are lined in the signature logo fabric, and the name is elegantly perforated around the inside edges of the seat cushion.

The leather is in very good vintage condition, with only light wear along the outer corner edges and a single loose thread on the seat cushion, all consistent with age and use. Every cushion remains structurally sound, with sturdy buckles and zippers in working order.

This lounge chair is solid, comfortable, and ready for use, offering a refined focal point for both modern and classic interiors.

Purchased several years ago, it has been carefully maintained in a smoke-free home. I am parting with it only due to a redesign and lack of space in my living room.
