The simplicity of form and elegance of style are more suitable to blend in with modern furnishings. To makers of fine Chinese furniture, Ming Style is paramount. This pair is made in an exclusive furniture factory in South China. The proprietor has studied Chinese decorative arts in a Taiwan University and has good knowledge of Chinese furniture. He selected old wood in the form of temple beams from abandoned structures. Hundreds year old wood is preferred to green wood because they have gone through the seasons which kept shrinkage of a minimum. The wood here is elm, a soft hardwood that has beautiful wood grains. He found the stylized dragon designs from old illustrations. The construction is based on the information found on encyclopedia of Ming furniture. Attention is paid to the tiniest details from the rounded members to the beaded edges and the lively dragon carvings. The interiors are nicely finished with the same elm wood. Both cabinets provide ample storage space and the two drawers are added bonuses.
