A striking matched pair of ceramic Foo Dogs (Shishi / Guardian Lions), glazed in celadon-blue and tan with expressive features and fine scrollwork manes. Traditionally placed in pairs as protectors, the male (open mouth) wards off external spirits, while the female (closed mouth) safeguards the home and family.
This pair carries a unique story: each figure was discovered separately within an abandoned Jai Alai fronton, and later reunited to restore their original symbolic balance. Together, they embody both their ancient role as guardians and a modern tale of rescue and renewal.
