The two-color disk was cut and polished from a transversal cut of a larger rock, showing the irregular banding separating the colors of the stone. This makes it different from the regular onyx, with shows parallel banding throughout its layers. The disk also presents fragments of translucent stone, which makes the piece very attractive to the sight and touch.

Since the disk is about half an inch thick, it allows the light to shine through it, displaying the natural intricacies of the stone and its beautiful translucent colors. Ideal to place near a well-lit window for a kaleidoscope of color and nature.

The disk rests freely on a bespoke metal stand measuring approximately 8 x 16 inches, for a total height of almost 30 inches. At 23.5 inches in diameter, it's a large and visually stunning carving. See less
