Elegant and perfectly sized 19th Century French Louis XVI style commode.
This fine quality mahogany two-drawer commode has gilt bronze hardware and mounts. Inlaid on all sides, adorned with a perfectly intact grey marble top. A sophisticated piece with classic lines to suit a variety of decorative themed homes. Dovetailed drawers.
Bears the makers signature under the marble top. Stamped Me. David.
Me. signifying the maker was a master craftsman perhaps a graduate of the Parisian world renowned Ecole Boulle established in 1886 and named in honor of André-Charles Boulle due to his significant contributions to the art of marquetry and cabinet making. Boulle was a renowned cabinetmaker during the reign of Louis XIV, and his legacy influenced the school's focus on fine arts and crafts.
