A set of four small Blue Onion pattern porcelain plates. Hand-painted decoration in blue. Mid-20th century. Perfect condition. Appears unused. Marked. First factory quality. Dimensions: D 18.0 cm x H 3.5 cm. The Meissen Blue Onion pattern, known as "Zwiebelmuster" in German, was introduced in 1739 by the Meissen porcelain manufactory. Inspired by Asian porcelain, particularly Chinese blue-and-white designs, the pattern features stylized flowers and fruits—despite its name, it does not actually depict onions. This classic blue pattern on white porcelain has become an icon of European porcelain artistry and remains one of Meissen’s most popular and recognizable designs. See less
