Sophisticated and traditional Early American set … Read more Magnificent, antique 1760's pair of original American Chippendale side chairs crafted in Connecticut . Sophisticated and traditional Early American set in curly maple wood with beautiful color tones and striations in the wood. Some features include a pierced back slat, embroidered padded slip seat leading to molded legs.

The color tones in the seats are off white, light leaf green and light coral orange. There is a faint engraving that can be seen when one of the seats are removed. It is hard to read but, it is hidden in the interior of the back part of the chair, behind an embroidered seat.

This set came from my late Grandmother's estate in Saddle River, NJ. She displayed them proudly next to a Chippendale chest of drawers for decades.

Genuine American Chippendale chairs are more rare and coveted than English Chippendale chairs. Two different antique appraisers mentioned that to me.
