Stunning Late Edo to Early Meiji Era Japanese 6-Panel painted gold leaf Byobu (folding screen). Unsigned. Kano School tradition. Gouache, watercolor, ink and gold pigment mist on gold leaf over paper. Silk brocade border. Lacquered black wood frame with wood joints. Paper and metal hangers on back. Very Good condition - some age wear overall, strong hinges, clean, sturdy. Japan, Late Edo to Early Meiji Era, circa 1850-1910.
