The chair shows … Read more This high-quality Art Nouveau bentwood side chair was manufactured by Jacob & Josef Kohn Wien around 1900. The chair shows a beautifully detailed wooden decor and comes with the original upholstery. It has the original paper label and a brand mark, both on the underside of the seat frame.

The famous manufactory Jacob & Josef Kohn was founded in 1849 in Vsetin, in the then Moravia region of the Austria-Hungary Habsburg monarchy. The company collaborated with iconic designers like Gustav Siegel or Josef Hoffmann and was taken over by its competitor Thonet in 1923.

The iconic side chair features the original high-quality upholstery with a beautiful floral decor. During this time J. & J. Kohn's chairs were upholstered with premium furniture fabric from Johann Backhausen & Söhne. This piece has an attribution mark,
