We recently came across this unusual Art Nouveau vase and I knew I wanted to own it for a while, … Read more We recently came across this unusual Art Nouveau vase and I knew I wanted to own it for a while, even before I looked at the bottom to see that it was marked Amphora, along with a series of numbers, and the letter "R", which may identify the designer. It stands about 17 and 1/2" tall and is decorated with a raised design of grapes and leaves. The colors seem to shift depending on the light, but primarily the vase is a brownish greenish eggplant color.

I believe this is an excellent example of Austrian pottery.

There are a few slightly indented spots which are likely original to the mold. As far as I can see, no chips or cracks, although the edges of some of the leaves are rough, which may be how they were made.

All in all, a simply stunning vase. See less
