The centerpiece of … Read more This Victorian ring is like a layered cake, with moonstone, diamonds, rubies, and stunning cobalt blue enamel. The centerpiece of the ring is a large moonstone cabochon with a high dome. The moonstone has a blue cast and desirable opalescence. It is surrounded by amazing caliber cut rubies, each cut specifically to fit around the dome of this particular stone. In each of the four corners of the ring are Old Mine Cut diamonds that bring some of the lightness of the moonstone out to the edges of the ring. The diamonds are bezel set in white gold to continue the cool, light shades of the stones. The exterior border of the ring is a beautiful pattern of scrolling foliate with deep cobalt blue enamel, with open work between the ruby and enamel halos. The blue enamel continues on the sides of the ring with decorative elements that add another pop of blue and gold. A scrolling engraving extends down the band and along the base of the ring’s face. The ring has a beautiful balance of rich red and blue hues against the light milky glow of the moonstone— a truly stunning and unique piece.

The natural antique moonstone measures 9 x 6.75 x 5.7 mm and has a TCW of 2.5 carats. The ring contains 20 natural antique rubies. The old cuts have beautiful high tables and a TCW of approximately 0.60 carats. The four natural antique diamonds are Old Mine Cuts, with an approximate carat weight of 0.20 carats.

The face of the ring measures 3/4” x 5/8”. The ring weighs 5.48 grams. Unmarked but acid tests as 14k gold. Circa 1880, some of the engravings along the side of the band have slight age-appropriate wear. (Please note: the ring does not come in the box it is pictured in.)
