This Really is a Great Looking Authentic Antique American Country Primitive Stoneware Storage Crock. Circa Mid 19th Century. With Side Handles - "Ears". It has a Very Nice Uniform Color Classic Early American Salt Glaze Exterior. The Interior is Done in a Dark Caramel Brown Color. The Front has a Very Nice & Unusual Cobalt Blue Hand Decorated Design. It has No Maker or Storage Capacity Marks but it is Rendered in the Small 1 Gallon Size. Back in the Day These Types of Stoneware Items were a Necessity in Most of Americas Farms and Household's and They were Made - Intended For Everyday Utilitarian Use. These Types of Crocks were Commonly Used to Store a Variety Food and Other Items. It is in All Original as it has Survived Over the Years Condition and Displays Beautifully. Imperfections Noted - 2 Hairline Cracks Extending Down from top Rim - 1 on the Front and 1 on the Back. It has a Few Surface Glaze Imperfections - Spots at the Base - Lower Perimeter Area All of Which Would have Occurred in the Making - Kiln Firing Process. Stoneware Pieces Like This were Fired in Very Large Kilns with Many Other Pieces at the Same Time and These Types of Kiln Flaws are Quite Common.
