Several similar Scott designs for Velten Vordamm are part of the Smithsonian's Cooper Hewitt Design Museum collections.

The lobed ceramic box and cover are decorated with a striking overall pattern of glossy black over white. The box has black bands at the rim and foot; the interior and base are also glazed black. The cover's outer border and interior are glossy black. The box measures 2.25 in. H x 4 in. diameter, the perfect size for a vanity, nightstand, or end table. Both pieces are clearly marked Vordam / Germany / M/5 on base and M/5 on the underside of the lid. Very good condition with some typical crazing.

Steingut-Fabriken Velten-Vordamm was located outside of Berlin in Germany. A number of the company's employees made important artistic contributions through their association with artistic organizations including the Deutscher Werkbund and the Bauhaus School. See less
