This sculptural form is designed as a pyramid stack of cylindrical rolls, each impressed with repeating patterns ranging from geometric lattice to stylized motifs. The ends are detailed with concentric circular ridges, further enhancing the trompe l’oeil effect. Glazed overall in a glossy ivory white.The lid lifts off to reveal a glazed interior storage compartment, making the piece both functional and decorative.
With its witty, textural surface and architectural presence, the piece recalls the postmodern Italian ceramic design of the 1980s (in the spirit of Memphis Milano, Sottsass, and contemporary studio pottery). Works by smaller Italian studios of the era are now highly collectible
