Vintage British Cordite bucket carry case. Made of leather featuring
A cordite bucket, also called a Clarkson Case, is a flash-proof container, typically made of cork, leather, and canvas, used to safely transport cordite (a type of smokeless gunpowder propellant) from a ship's or fort's magazine to the guns during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. These reusable containers were designed to prevent sparks, with the leather exterior offering water resistance and the cork and canvas interior protecting the explosive. They were carried into battle by military forces to ensure a steady supply of propellant for naval and artillery weapons.
