An energetic mid-century composition that captures a serene autumnal landscape with a bold, expressive hand, executed in oil onto board.

In the foreground, a textured grey-and-moss-green boulder anchors the scene beside the slender trunk of a tree, its bark rendered in rich browns and greens. Beyond, a sweep of pale golden grass opens into a stand of trees, their foliage glowing in autumnal shades, set against the deep forest green of distant conifers. The sky above is a tapestry of soft sage and buttery yellows, painted in horizontal strokes that evoke a gentle, crisp light.

Executed in a post-impressionist style, the artist has used thick, confident brushstrokes laid in distinct, visible blocks of colour, giving the scene a rhythmic energy and tactile depth.
