Vintage Anchor Ship Lantern Nautical Oil Lamp 13” x 6 1/2” ~ Copper & Brass. Estate find, do not know anything about. Great patina. See pictures (to serve as additional description). A great piece of history, a wonderful to decorate with.
This is an Anchor Lantern, a type of nautical lamp commonly used on ships.
Construction:
It features a copper and brass body with a clear glass Fresnel lens, designed to amplify the light.
Function:
Originally, these lanterns were oil-burning and used for navigation or interior lighting on vessels.

This particular lantern has a vented top, hoisting and bale handles, and protective bars, with "ANCHOR" embossed on the top.
Origin:
The manufacturer, Den Haan Rotterdam (DHR), founded in 1922 in Holland, is known for handcrafting these lamps to commercial ship standards.
