A striking mid-century modernist painting that captures the quiet charm of a coastal scene, executed in oil onto board.

Two boldly coloured boats – one in deep navy blue, the other in brick red – rest upon warm ochre sands, their strong silhouettes set against whitewashed houses with terracotta roofs. Behind them, rolling green hills meet a vivid band of cobalt sky, while the turquoise edge of the sea curves into view at the foreground.

Executed with a modernist sensibility, the scene is reduced to simplified geometric forms and flat planes of rich colour, outlined in confident black strokes. The palette balances earthy warmth with refreshing coastal blues and greens, evoking both the heat of the sun and the coolness of the sea breeze. The smooth, uniform brushwork enhances the crisp, graphic quality of the composition, lending it a timeless feel.

This oil on board is presented in a wooden frame with a linen inner border that beautifully complements the painting’s bold lines and coastal palette.
