This exceptional vintage Turkish hand-knotted rug measures 6 ft 7 in x 10 ft 1 in and was woven more than 50 years ago by skilled villagers in Central Anatolia. Originally crafted as a wedding dowry piece (çeyizlik), it was intended for the family’s own use and has therefore been carefully preserved and never used.
Made entirely from hand-spun natural wool and dyed with vegetable-based natural colors, this rug exemplifies the artistry and cultural heritage of traditional Anatolian weaving. Its rich red field, accented by deep indigo blues, ivory, and earthy tones, frames a striking central medallion surrounded by intricate floral and geometric motifs. The detailed borders add balance and sophistication, making this piece both decorative and highly collectible.
The rug has been shaved down to a low pile to strengthen the weave and minimize shedding, making it both durable and easy to maintain
Whether displayed in a living room, dining space, or design-forward interior, this rug brings authenticity, warmth, and timeless beauty. A rare opportunity to own an unused, mid-20th century Anatolian village rug that embodies the legacy of Turkish craftsmanship.
