Late 19th-century English wall pocket, cut and pierced from solid brass in a stylized crown motif. Known as a 'tidy,' this form was traditionally mounted near hearths or entryways to hold letters, matches, or small notes. Rich patina throughout adds depth and contrast to the intricate silhouette. It does not stand upright on its own, and will require wall mounting for display. A sculptural accent equally at home in a gallery wall or utility space.
