Handcrafted in the 1980s in Lecce, Italy, this large-scale sculpture features a resin or carved wood face with a furrowed brow, flowing beard, and layered expression. His wide-brimmed, rumpled hat is shaped from hand-applied papier-mâché, adding dramatic contrast and texture. The piece sits atop a felt bottom wooden base with the original metal “Merico S” nameplate and a vintage price sticker in Italian lire.
