Exquisite and rare genre group of the 19th century: lady in elaborate, magnificent rococo clothing with a sweeping crinoline and an ermine-trimmed cape enthroned on a richly decorated armchair, holding a heart box in her left hand towards the gallant, who will make it a gift to his beloved, next to her the jewelry seller, dressed in a simple dress with an apron and a wide-brimmed hat, carrying a vendor's tray with jewelery in front of her and offering another, round box for inspection, behind the crinoline lady, next to the chair, a boy with a feathered cap in skirt and jacket, presenting further jewelery on a tableau. Group designed with particular attention to detail, based on a flat base with shaped flowers and foliage. Designer: johann joachim kändler (1706 - 1775) chief sculptor at the meissen manufactory from 1742 to 1775. He is the most famous modeller meissen manufactory ever had and created famous series such as shepherd figurines, comedian's children, gardener children (with acier), paris town criers (with reinicke and meyer) , gallant figurines, etc. Kaendler designed this model circa 1738.
