A very fine 19th Century George III style Harewood and Marquetry Commode by W. Williamson and Sons, Guildford (1790-1889). The serpentine-fronted commode features satinwood crossbanding and intricate floral marquetry panels, each centered with an urn and elaborate bouquets. The sides are similarly adorned with finely detailed inlay. The chest is raised on elegant, tapered legs. This commode exemplifies the harmonious proportions and neoclassical design sensibilities of the Georgian period.
This piece is very versatile in modern settings in an entryway, dining room, living area, bedroom, or study. The commode makes a dramatic statement piece on its own, as well as provides ample additional storage.
