A large porcelain cactus flower with an organic and undulating lip is flanked by a winged cherub on either side, each trailing a garland embellished with hand painted night cactus blooms in shades of cream, soft pink, and gilt accents. The bowl rests on a plinth style base that is lavishly decorated with finely detailed Greek key gilding. Quite heavy and substantial in size, the bowl stands 10.5", is 15.5” in length, 10” wide, and weighs just under 7 pounds. The Moore Brothers hallmark can be seen on the bottom of the base. A couple of fine hairlines are present that run under the base that are completely stable, and there is very slight staining to the bowls interior, all to be expected with a large delicate porcelain across 140 years. One cherub has had a wing repaired and reattached which was well done, and the very tip end of the garland held by the other cherub has chipped away. A couple of very minor losses to the flower petals were found on very close inspection to the underneath side of the bowl. None of these issues are noticeable, immediately obvious, or distracting. The centerpiece presents itself extremely well, displays beautifully, and is one that is seldom discovered in such good heirloom quality condition. Wear is commensurate to age and a history of gentle well cared for use so please regard the photos as they form a descriptive part of the listing. See less
