A pair of decorative Chinese Rose Medallion bowls, each measuring 10” in diameter and 5” deep.
Though the markings on the bottom of each bowl read “Da Qing Daoguang Nian Zhi” ("Qing Dynasty Daoguang period make”), claiming to be from the period between 1820 and 1850, these bowls almost certainly date from the period between 1970 and 1990. This does not detract from the overall beauty of these bowls, which are exquisitely painted and in fine condition. They are in the style of Rose Medallion bowls that were exported from China starting in the 1850’s. They are decorative, not for food use.
The two bowls are slightly different. Both have a rose pattern, but one features just birds, whereas the other has figures of people in Chinese dress as well as birds.
