The warm red-brown bamboo is subtly stained to enhance grain and depth. Retains its original cylindrical bamboo otoshi liner. Signed to the base 竹斎造 (Chikusai-zō, “Made by Chikusai”), a mid-20th-century Japanese bamboo artist known for refined, functional baskets for the tea and flower arts. Circa 1960–1970, Japan.
