A Small Hand‑painted French Faïence (Tin‑glazed Earthenware) Souvenir Stamped “Pornichet” and Dated 1879 on the Base Made in France.
Dimensions are 3” 3/4 x 3” 3/4 by 2” 1/2 high.
A crowned shield decorated with ermine spots, which are strongly associated with the Brittany region of France (the ermine is the traditional emblem of the Duchy of Brittany).
Supporters on each side (stylized animals) and a ribbon at the base.
This decoration reinforces the idea that your stand is a Breton souvenir piece — probably made for sale in Pornichet in 1879, either commemorating a local event or as a high-quality tourist memento.
With the Breton woman on one side and the arms of Brittany on the other, it fits perfectly into the late 19th-century Quimper-style faïence tradition. The small, square, openwork form is less common than plates or jugs, making it an interesting collectible.
