In the central pulpit, "la … Read more Antique and important lustre plate from the ceramic production of Deruta, datable to around 1520-30. In the central pulpit, "la bella" is depicted within a raised clipeus, where a young woman with a very elegant bearing and clothing is portrayed in profile, in an image that refers to the fully Renaissance taste of the time. Next to her is the cartouche that identifies her: VSEPIA.B. The body of the plate features a fine quartered decoration interspersed with peacock feather decorations and floral motifs. The large brim features the peacock feather decoration typical of Deruta production in the early 16th century throughout its diameter. The plate is in excellent condition, especially in the glaze and lustre with a tenacious bluish metallic reflection. The plate has a slight break of a few centimetres in two pieces, as can be seen from the photo of the back. Diameter 32cm. See less
