And what might be the metaphor? Our boy’s leapfrogging over a book, and he has his student’s backpack on, no? Would the suggestion be that by studying hard he’s bound to conquer the globe? How resolutely American! How… yesteryear…

The bronze patina on the (white metal or spelter) parts is original and in super-excellent condition. Clearly this lamp has been carefully guarded and treasured. The globe, made of abaster, shows no signs of abuse. It has a few minor/faint interior marks, or lines, typical of the stone (not cracks, they don’t go to the surface).

How extraordinary that no one’s used too hot a bulb and “burned” the alabaster! The bulb you see is especially low on heat output and certainly bright enough for the purpose of the lamp as a night light or accent lamp.

This whimsical lamp will delight as it has for over a Century! It’s a testament to the brilliance and creativity of American lighting both in design and manufacture, truly museum-worthy.

Dimensions: about 12 1/4 inches high, both the base and the globe measure about 4 3/4 in diameter. Rewired with a new cord and plug. See less
