The exterior is finished in a mixed-blue lustre glaze with variations of pale staining and blue mottling, adorned with a … Read more The exterior is finished in a mixed-blue lustre glaze with variations of pale staining and blue mottling, adorned with a continuous procession of finely detailed gold "Celestial Dragons" chasing the "Sacred Pearl," which is rendered with stylized flames. The top and bottom edges are bordered with a classic Greek key motif in gold. The interior surface displays a rich mother-of-pearl lustre with subtle staining throughout. Centered within the bowl is a prominent gilt dragon encircling a flaming pearl, surrounded by additional dragons and stylized winged insects in gold and colored enamel highlights. The upper interior border features the "Papillon" pattern, incorporating gilded butterflies and architectural motifs among geometric latticework. Marked with the Wedgwood Portland Vase backstamp.
