Handmade wood abacus from Japan. Marked: Sun Abacus in Japanese.
It is in superb condition, a very well made piece. There are no cracks in the ebony stained wood frame with well laid mortise and tenon joints all very solid construction. The crosspiece is inlaid with bone. The beads are very hard, likely rosewood with no cracks. Would make an attractive table display in a ceramic bowl or featured in a cabinet of curiosities.
