Offered is a beautiful pair of antique majolica plates featuring raised grapevine and leaf design with rich turquoise, cobalt blue, green, brown glazes accented by pink grape clusters. The borders are deeply textured with a repeating foliate pattern, characteristic of Villeroy & Boch's high-quality majolica of the period.
MAKER'S MARK: Villeroy & Boch "V & B / S" maker's mark" and one plate has the same mark with "L" underneath the mold number
CIRCA: 1870-1900

- Good antique condition with expected wear for over 120 years old. On the fronts the vivid glaze colors remain bright. … moreGood antique condition with expected wear for over 120 years old. On the fronts the vivid glaze colors remain bright. Fronts of both plates are in really good antique condition. One plate has 2 minor chips in the glaze on the outside rim from the use of a plate hanger at some point. On the backsides both plates show some wear the the foot rim and there are chips in the turquoise glaze on both. Please zoom in on all photos as they form a part of the description.
