Aged late 19th century French giltwood floor mirror crafted in the grand Louis XV taste. The mirror has a large wood-painted frame embellished with carved floral, foliate, and scrolling acanthus decorations. The top features a high-relief cornice molding decorated with ornate floral sprays and centered by a Rococo style shell rocaille. The frame was constructed with spectacular architectural scale and detail. The commanding size and scale is visually striking and impressive. The gilt wood and gesso carved decoration has visible losses adding to its intrigue and aged aesthetic. From a grand estate in San Francisco, CA.
