19.25" long by 1.5" wide b y 2.5" tall.

Impressive in its presentation - wood is dense is heavy, dark tone is elegant, and detailing is very well done. No jagged edges or errant cuts...artisan work for sure.

And, its facial expression is even pleasant! If a gator could be smiling and glad to see you, this is the one.

Likely African or Asian - from a truly lovely and well-travelled Virginia estate.

This is the sort of piece that can turn heads - in a small collection, as a centerpiece on a table or shelf, or on a desk to make a statement. We've had it on a glass top side table in a family room, and every time someone new strolls by they pause and go - "what's that?" And when you pick it up, the hand feel says quality, and the curiosity begins.

It also is a ringer for the classic Lacoste crocodile, which my husband - who still wears those shirts from she 70s/80s childhood - just loves. We've named him Rene, naturally. See less
