A very handsome still life oil painting in the 17th century manner, depicting luminous fruits: peaches, grapes, canteloupe, etc. with sprigs of iris and a sunflower tucked in at the top. The composition is set against a deep steely blue grey sky with hints of formal garden architecture and elements in the background. 20th century, probably Continental, signed “Stare” lower right corner. Later gilt wood frame. Good condition, typical light wear, a few dings to the frame.
