Maurice De Vlaminck ( 1876 - 1958 ) was a major Twentieth Century French painter. Along with Andre Derain and Henri Matisse he is considered one of the principal figures in The Fauvism Art Movement. They all exhibited their highly innovative paintings at the controversial Salon D'Automne in 1905. The vivid, unnatural colors led the art critic Louis Vauxcelles to name their works as " Les Fauves ", or " The Wild Beasts ", marking the start of The Fauvist Movement. Artworks by De Vlaminck are included in the collections of many of the world's most prestigious museums.
