Offered is a set of 8 dinner plates from the Ruska dinnerware pattern designed by Ulla Procopé for Arabia Finland in 1960 (and first released in 1968). Done in deep earthy tones of a mottled and speckled brown semi-matte glaze, stylish speckled brownish black, the pieces vary in color. "Ruska" is the Finnish term for the autumnal colors when the foliage changes before blanketing the ground, and these serving pieces have a smooth surface and are all slightly different in appearance resembling handcrafted studio pottery. They are both oven-to-table and dishwasher safe.
They measure 10.125" diameter and 1" deep
Ulla Procopé (1921 - 1968) was one of Finland's leading ceramic designers of the 20th century who left an indelible impact on Scandinavian design. She joined Arabia, the Finnish producer of fine ceramic tableware in 1948 and designed several innovative and popular lines of ceramic products.
