LARGE Gerardo Garcia Day of the Dead Hand Made Catrina Talavera Mexican Sculpture. This sculpture stands 23" tall! Very detailed hand painted dress, along with attached butterfly motif. Signed on the bottom edge of the sculpture "Gerardo Garcia" and "Made in Mexico". Both hands and the head of the sculpture detach.

Talavera is made in a lengthy process of approximately 3 months. Consists of a series of paint layers, paint detailing, and baking of the ceramic. Talavera pieces are fade proof and a staple in Mexican culture. Catrina is a folklore character originated in a Jose Guadalupe Posada’s illustration associated later with the day of the dead.
