A pair of iconic LeWittes 1970’s Caned Wingback velvet upholstery chairs.
From original home in 1970’s mansion formal living room, Fairfield CT.
The design and unique mixing of materials and styles make these chic time pieces sensational and sought after.
Original brushed velvet upholstery with
Square patterned Chesterfield chair backs reminiscent of floating marshmallows. The extra large lacquered caning is unscathed and bold.
The plush seats are firm, deep and comfortable, with attention to detail like monochromatic piping and upholstered lower seat. The geometric patterning on the exclamation legs is a far more modern take on the traditional wingback.
Designed by Mike Clamen of the LeWittes in-house team.

Upholstery is clean with slight discoloration due to aging (Please inspect photos) Original upholstery is preferred in maintaining integrity of the pieces. Sturdy frame with no known scratches. Fascinating timepieces where Colonial and 70’s swag collide. Made by the legendary LeWittes Furniture company in North Carolina during the time referred to as “The Big Surge Era” when North Carolina furniture companies were at the pinnacle of production. Designer Mike Clamen became famous for developing a significantly better way to install caning rather than tacking it in place. The extra large caning pattern is an area of interest for the extraordinary design of these chairs. less
