High quality antique hand carved weighted bookends with amazing detail. Mahogany I think. Charles Dickens I think.
They each weigh 35 ounces and are 6 inches tall with 6 inch wide bases.
Made in about 1900-1920, probably in England.
The green felt on the bottom was loose on one when I got them so I got to see the bottom. I didn't see a maker's mark.
There are three metal cylinders, all attached to one another and larger at the top end than at the bottom so that they cannot come out of the holes made for them.
Perhaps that method of adding weight will help you to confirm their age and place of origin.
