Chinese porcelain dragon and fenghuang fengeizun, a finely formed, phoenix-tail shape vase with a wide cup mouth, a red and yellow glazed exterior, and a white glazed interior and inset base. The cupped neck is banded by yellow, leafy lappets, above its ringed base collar. A band of intertwining, floral vines encircles the neck flange and a wide band of peony medallions on intertwining, leafy vines, decorates the shoulder of the vase, which is flanked by finely carved, red, Denglong head handles. The body of the vase is decorated with a finely drawn dragon and fenghuang, on the front and back, chasing the flaming pearl of wisdom amid auspicious clouds (xiangyun) and Taoist flames, above a band of ocean waves and spume. A band of cloud and thunder meanders above large, Ru Yi lappets decorates the lower vase and foot. A blue, six character, Zhengde, reign mark is glazed to the inset base. The finely carved, traditional, Chinese hongmu stand is included. Circa Republic of China Era or earlier.
Denglong: Denglong is one of the sons of the Dragon King, and has the habit of guarding. It symbolizes sending the will of heaven to humans, and delivering the conditions of the people to the heavens. There is also legend that says Avalokiteśvara (Kuan Yin) rides on a Denglong.
xiangyun: Cloud motifs are rooted in agrarian culture of the Chinese people. Clouds are associated with good luck as the cloud makes rain which moisten all things, and therefore, it brings good fortune to people. In Chinese language, clouds are called yun (云; 雲; yún) which is a homonym for the Chinese character yun "good fortune" (运; 運; yùn). In Chinese culture, clouds (especially the five-coloured clouds) are perceived as an auspicious sign (e.g. an omen of peace, a symbol of Heaven, and the expression of the Will of Heaven. They also symbolize happiness and good luck.
