The contrast of the … Read more Exceptional one-of-a-kind solid black walnut chair with giant wing arms and a mid century style base. The contrast of the solid, heavy, sculpted seat with the light, streamline base is what strikes me most about this chair along with the quality of craftsmanship. It is beautiful. A stunning statement and conversation piece. It is quite large, see photo with person sitting in it for scale. It is comprised of 2 pieces; seat and base. The base has rubber bumpers which the seat rests on, there is no hardware - just the enormity of the seat - to hold it in place. See photos to see individual pieces. This chair was expertly handcrafted by SJ Rome in 2013, dated and signed. After researching extensively I, unfortunately, cannot find any verified information on the artist. I had some leads but it remains a mystery. It arrived in sad shape but has been professionally restored and refinished. Has some very subtle visible scars on seat, which are just part of its unique character and story. It was saved from an old school before demolition.
