a stunning two-handled vase in the shape of a roman amphora, entirely modeled on a potter's wheel in majolica with barbotine decoration, then in bas-relief with leaves, flowers, birds, and garlands of foliage. The handles consist of two busts of winged cherubs, similar to those found on the capitals of columns or in the vaults or arches of ancient christian or gothic churches. Made in england in the late 19th century, signed under the base with a mark attributable to the garrett & sons factory in stoke-on-trent, one of the main centers of english ceramics in the 1800s.

useful information for evaluating the item:
as shown in the third-to-last photo, our mark (a circle with a cross in the center) should be number 7, used in the 19th century by the factory founded by spode in 1770. As for the incised letters, "g. & s.", these are undoubtedly the initials "garrett & sons." in fact, copeland joined spode's factory first, followed by garrett, the younger of the two, who probably continued with his sons after copeland's death, hence the name "garrett and sons." as proof that this factory used this type of acronym, we have included several similar acronyms used by the factory, with different letters, in the last photos. The style of our vase is victorian 19th century, used in the artistic productions of many factories, such as minton and george jones, two of the most famous english factories in the world, which our vase has nothing to envy.
