This grand baker’s rack is comprised of a slatted iron frame with brass embellishments, such as the bundled wheat motif of the scrolled crest and the edges of each of the three shelves. The shelves are divided by highly scrolled corbels, allowing for multiple storage compartments. In addition there are four arms above the top shelf that allow for the hanging of items, such as skillets, hand towels, or pot holders. This wonderful baker’s rack would have been used in a French boulangerie (bakery) around 1900 to display bread and other items for sale.
