The Black … Read more A Collection of Three English papier-mâché snuff boxes with inlaid Mother-Of-Pearl dates to the late 19th century; 1880's. The Black lacquer papier-mâché cases forms a durable but hard shell exterior. Irregular shards of mother-of-pearl on the boxes' lid are outlined by scalloped silver wire inlay, with a mother-of-pearl embellishment in the centers. The boxes are black with opalescent hues of pink and turquoise were used for snuff or pills.
