Glamorous and opulent 1960s stainless steel clad writing table, library table, or bureau plat desk designed by John Vesey (American 1924-1992). Made in the grand neoclassical French Louis XVI taste reminiscent of works by Maison Jansen. The case features an oak frame embellished with stainless steel and bronze trim. The desk is fronted by three storage drawers having bronze borders with ornate brass bail pulls. The top of the table has a black leather inset with decorative gilt borders in Greek key patterns. The corners of the case are decorated with gilt bronze acanthus swag ending with a bow and tassel. The entire top of the table has a thick bronze border. The table is supported by elegant tapered and fluted legs ending with round bronze sabot feet. The elusive desk has an iconic profile with a roster of famous clients.
