Oversized upholstered arm chair with swan motifs at the arm terminals. Reupholstered in 1990s. Wood surfaces appear to be coated with gesso and then gilded. Elegant and stylish, but also extremely comfortable seating. Both upholstery and wood parts are in excellent condition. The inner structure of the chair is strong and sturdily built.

My grandmother bought this chair in Paris in 1926 for a house my grandfather was having built for them in Los Angeles. This chair was likely shipped to Los Angeles via the Panana Canal, along with other antiques that she purchased for the new house at that time.

I grew up in my grandparents' beautiful home, and recall being fascinated by the carved swans on this chair even when I was barely able to walk. See less
