Chinese porcelain blue and white lidded jar, a finely formed, round, lidded vessel with gently bulging sides, a blue and … Read more Chinese porcelain blue and white lidded jar, a finely formed, round, lidded vessel with gently bulging sides, a blue and white glazed exterior and white glazed interior and inset base. The short neck is circled by a band of blue and white Ru Yi lappets and the body of the jar by two rows of continuous ornate swags, ending in thin, double trim lines at the foot. The lid is decorated an ornate floral medallion within a thin blue trim line, accented by similar swags as those on the body of the jar. The side of the lid has a band of clouds bracketed by thin blue trim lines. A blue, Tian, dedication mark is glazed to the inset base. The finely carved, traditional, Chinese, hongmu stand is included. Circa Republic of China era, no later than mid century.

Tian: heaven, a mark used on ceramics from the Song to Qing dynasties.
