Absolutely stunning, fully restored Antique late 19th Century circa 1890-1900 French Louis XVI Ormolu mounted writing table Bureau Plat with new hand dyed brown leather, gold leaf embossed writing surface
A very decorative and collectable desk in fully restored condition throughout. The desk comes complete with all original ormolu fixtures and fittings including two keys for the locks. It has three large drawers to the front, the middle drawer has a repoussé scene of horses, serpents, neo classical looking ladies and babies, its very dramatic, the scene is repeated on both the front and back side, the back side drawers are all faux and simply there for decoration and to match the front The piece has been fully restored as mentioned, the main frame has had the hardware removed and polished, the frame has been washed back and lightly French polished, the leather top is new as mentioned, it is a hand dyed cattle hide smokey brown leather, its been five times boarder embossed, with a large central line of gold leaf looking and further gold leaf impressions in each corner
